Kinsale Mead Co.’s vision and passion is to rediscover the art of mead-making and create a light, delicious range of world-class Irish meads. Satisfy your curiosity and discover the flavours of this refreshingly different drink.
Mead is the world’s oldest alcohol with a rich and fascinating history. Kinsale Mead is delighted to return to Taste of Dublin with their delicious meads. Made from pure honey and berries, have a taste of the drink of Ireland’s Kings and Chieftains and find out how delicious history can be! Wine strength with a silky smooth, off-dry finish, they’re a refreshing alternative to wine or cider for pairing with food, summer and winter. And they make for some cracking cocktails too.
Founded in 2016, Kate and Denis Dempsey researched old recipes and ingredients and coupled these with modern wine-making techniques. Without honey there’s no mead and without bees, there’s no honey so part of their ethos is to source carefully their pure, natural ingredients, support beekeepers, honeybees and other wild pollinators and educate their meadery tour visitors on the importance of biodiversity. The meads are naturally gluten-free and low in sulfites and tannins.
With some prestigious awards under their belt, they can proudly say their meads are judged to be among the best in the world produced by this family run business in Kinsale from bee to bottle.
