Dae is a plant based artisanal ice cream brand making ice cream for everyone. Specialising in premium ice cream sandwiches stocked across the country and with their own scoop shop located in St. Stephen’s Green shopping centre.
Founded in April 2021, originally called Leamhain, named after the infamous river which flows through the founder’s Conor Sweeny’s grandparents home town of Killorglin, Co.Kerry. Dae started as a covid business when Conor lost his job working as a chef in a fine dining restaurant in London. He moved back to Ireland, settling in Killorglin and while watching Tiger King eating ice cream he felt he could do better. Conor spent over a year researching and creating his own plant based, free from ice cream recipe. The name Dae is a metaphor for the business’ ethos of friends and family sharing memories together. Sunday is the day of the week friends, family and loved ones come together to enjoy celebrations, to enjoy childhood nostalgic treats such as an ice cream sundae.
Dae partnered with Baile Átha Cliath le Gaeilge to encourage the use of Irish when ordering in their scoop shop. Irish has always been at the forefront of Dae ice cream from the very beginning and are immensely proud with the introduction of a judgement free, safe space for anyone to try speaking a bit of cúpla focail. Irish can also be seen on all Dae ice cream sandwich packaging also! Dae just celebrated their two year birthday with the launch of their products into stores such as Spar, Supervalu and all leading independent stores.
